H2O Consulting Group specilise in Ecological Assessments for aquatic habitats. These reports are also refereed to as Aquatic Ecology Assessments and in NSW are prepared following the guidance provided by Aquatic Ecology in Environmental Impact Assessment (Lincoln-Smith 2003). This level of assessment is typically required as a supporting chapter of an EIS or EIA study for major projects or to support an REF document for smaller projects.
These reports provide detailed impact assessment of proposed works on aquatic and foreshore habitat, flora and fauna, threatened species, communities and populations, and any Matters National Environmental Significance. The impact assessment takes into consideration supporting studies or can include works on on sediment quality, water quality and coastal processes. The assessment also includes a review existing information, and series of recommendations to avoid, minimise and mitigate impacts of the proposal.
H2O Consulting Group can also assist with some Ecological Assessment of terrestrial habitats or on projects where works are proposed to overlap both terrestrial and aquatic habitats. Our network of professional consultants includes ecologists experienced in targeted flora surveys, fauna trapping and the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method.
